A Strong Message of U.S. Support for Romania on Capitol Hill, the State Department and Media Influencers in Washington D.C. All in Favor of a Positive Outcome of the Upcoming May 18 Elections
As anticipated, during the meetings held by Stefan Minovici on May 6–7 in Washington, the parties reaffirmed that the United States remains a strong and steadfast supporter of Romania. At the same time, Interest is growing around the upcoming elections on May 18, with the winner of the first round already receiving validation and recognition from members of the U.S. Senate and Congress.
All eyes are now on the results of the vote next Sunday, expected to be monitored with the highest standards of fairness, ethics, transparency, and without any form of interference, foreign or domestic.
And there was one more important message: the promise that the United States is ready to welcome Romania back into the Visa Waiver Program as soon as a new administration is installed in Bucharest. In other words, what could have been considered a major setback may well become a historic achievement for Romania.
